Siv Helene Stangeland

Siv Helene Stangeland is a Norwegian architect and researcher based in Stavanger and Olso, Norway. Together with Reinhard Kropf, she founded the architectural office Helen & Hard in 1996 which today counts 25 employees. She holds a PhD in Architecture from 2016 on drawing and relational design capacities. 

Helen & Hard have an extensive body of built work and have won several awards for their timber architecture including the Pulpit Rock Mountain Lodge, Norway Pavillion in Shanghai 2010 and Vennesla Library 2011. H&H have published, taught and lectured extensively in Europe, North America and Asia about their research on holistic sustainable design practices and timber architecture.

The lecture will present project examples from H&H design practice and focus on how we investigate new spatial arrangements with timber as building system, and which can inspire us to live more sustainable.
